STEPHEN FIFE – PRESIDENT
A graduate of Horace Mann H.S., the National Theatre Institute, Sarah Lawrence Collegeand Columbia University’s School of the Arts (MFA), Steve has had 11 books published.These include two poetry collections – DREAMING IN THE MAZE OF LOVE-GRIEF-
MADNESS and TWISTED HIPSTER – and two memoirs (BEST REVENGE: How theTheater Saved My Life and Has Been Killing Me Ever Since and Amazon bestseller THE13 TH BOY: A Memoir of Education and Abuse), as well as his first novel, Angel’s Glance
– soon to be re-issued as LOVING HOLLY. All published by Cune Press (Seattle).Kirkus Reviews called his novel “A haunting and keenly observed meditation on relationships, parenthood, and the vagaries of celebrity and fame.” His next two poetry collections, COURBET’S BLUE PARROT and THE LITTLE DOG STARES INTO THE VOID, will be published in 2021 by 3 Rooms Press/ShiftPoetry.
Steve has written several screenplays, including adaptations of his plays Savage World,Blue Kiss and Sizzle Sizzle, and of his Amazon best-selling memoir The 13 th Boy. He has also written the original screenplays Falling Masks (which has received several festival
awards) and Sympathy for the Devil (with David Hunt). Steve has also collaborated withRalph Pezzullo on the original thriller screenplays The American Wife and Big DogRules. Attached as screenwriter to the limited series about NFL star Kermit Alexander.
His plays SAVAGE WORLD, BREAK OF DAY and THIS IS NOT WHAT I ORDERED have been published by Samuel French. Other plays include In The Mood, Sizzle Sizzle,Blue Kiss, The Kitchen Girl, Fun With Freud, Scattered Blossoms, Break of Day, Vincentin the Asylum, Van Gogh’s Zombie Movie, New Day, Bring Your Own and The Blessing.
His adaptation of Sholem Asch’s God of Vengeance was produced Off-Broadway by theJewish Rep, where it received 17 rave reviews and has been performed all over the world. The American Wife (co-written with Ralph Pezzullo) had its World Premiere at the Park
Theatre in London. He is writer-in-residence at the Ark Theatre in NoHo, where his playBlue Kiss was filmed and will stream on their website. His play Fun with Freud has been
filmed by Yuval Shrem and is scheduled to stream on Amazon Prime by summer 2021.
He has written for The New York Times, Village Voice, New Republic, New York Newsday and many others. He pursued several investigative stories and was the only reporter to meet with the boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter in maximum security prison after Carter’s second conviction for triple murder. He later used this experience as the
basis for his acclaimed stage play, SAVAGE WORLD. Steve was the first literary manager for Primary Stages Company in New York City. He has been the recipient of aFederal Writing Grant and several other grants and residencies.
JOE S. STARR – EXECUTIVE MARKETING DIRECTOR
Joe has been working in the entertainment industry since he was 15 years old. Starting at the Black Repertory Theater in Berkeley California, (at age 16) he co-starred in the Broadway Hit RAISIN, the musical version of RAISIN IN THE SUN as Travis Younger. He was featured on the NBC Nationally Syndicated program, JUST KIDDING as he told of being credited as the best writer of the Black Repertory Theater’s youth program. After auditioning for the part of Theo Huxtable on THE COSBY SHOW (yet not landing the role), he went on to write, produce, direct and star in his one-man hip-hop musical, COLLAGE OF A D.J., which received rave reviews at the New Arts Experience Theater Berkeley, An extension of The Black Repertory Theater as well.
Joe studied TV and Film Production at Solano Community College, where his “Irish Spring Soap” commercial became the most broadcast in the history of the school’s cable channel.
He went on to learn the skills of marketing on his own. And soon was selected to create a marketing research concept for the UNWRAPPED VOL. 2 Documentary (which was recorded on Michael Jordan’s Hidden Beach label ), in which he appeared.
Joe has written several screenplays , including THE WORLD MACHINE, which has gained a huge following on Face Book, as well as TV show ideas still in the works.
